On the easel

I am currently playing with newsprint, inks, acrylic and oil paint to interpret events which could be reported in the news media – pushing materials and ideas to see where manipulation and repetition might take the work.

A piece of newsprint on which a story has repeatedly been written in pencil takes on the texture of soft fabric and becomes quite fragile. When the piece is further developed by drenching in gluey mixture it takes on a life of its own as the material dries and redirects the information into an altogether new dimension.
